šŸ€ The World Cup & NBA Finals Join Westchester's Planet Parade

A blues rock legend in the making takes The Cap stage this Friday, DEVO tonight

Hello, Westchester!

It’s a week of massive objects coming together. The theme is undeniable but one might impact you more than the other…

First, we get a ā€œplanet paradeā€ with Venus and Jupiter aligning in the early evening sky tonight, joined then by Mercury from June 11. The planets should be visible to the naked eye above the western / northwestern horizon and best viewed 45 minutes after sunset.

As you might have guessed, that’s the least impactful of the two.

The other alignment sees both the NBA Finals and the World Cup descend on the New York Metro area when the Knicks play host to the Spurs on Wednesday night at MSG and Brazil and Morocco kick-off from MetLife Stadium on Saturday. Both events are expected to turn the city upside down in the short term with transit officials recommending commuters work from home when possible.

Anticipation and ticket prices for both events are… ahem… astronomical. As of writing, the cheapest seat at MSG for Wednesday’s Knicks game will set you back $9,741, a price that StubHub refers to as ā€œGreat". A ticket to Saturday’s Brazil / Morocco match is, by comparison, a much more affordable $1,697. NJ Transit didn’t want to miss the supply and demand fun and are charging $98 for a round-trip ticket from Penn Station to MetLife on match days, 7.5 times the normal ticket price for that trip. ā€œGreat.ā€ If you’re reading that and thinking of attending both events (train trip included), a commercial flight to space starts at about $450,000 if you want to get in on the planet parade. Decisions decisions.

If you’d rather watch those events from the comfort of your own home, we don’t blame you one bit. We will, however, be catching a star this Friday when Gary Clark Jr. comes to The Capitol Theatre. We’re giving away two tickets on our Instagram page and would love for you to join us. Check out entry details here.

In the spirit of the weekly theme, here’s some Gary Clark Jr. Enjoy.

šŸ” Where the Heart Is

Incredible homes are listed in Westchester every week. Here’s one that caught our eye

The Key Details: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2,180 square feet on 1.47 acres ($344 / square foot)

What We Love About It: If you’re interested in North County living, this home lends itself to all the reasons why. It’s sitting on a ton of land, just shy of 1.5 acres, with mature specimen plants and trees - surrounded by nature with Turkey Mountain Preserve, New Croton Reservoir, Muscoot Farm, and Lasdon Gardens nearby - at a list price way below what you’d see further south. In fact, the list price is nearly $200,000 below the ā€œZestimateā€ if you put much faith in that figure. Roll that up with a short commute to multiple train options and staples King Kone and Br’ers BBQ and you have something definitely worth taking a look at!
