Hello, Westchester!
At this point in September, Iām usually struggling with a tiny bit of summer guilt. Thinking about the list we made back in June when summer seemed endless, only to blink and realize it had passed. Anyone else get that?
Weāve definitely found ourselves trying to cram a lot into these final summer days. But then, as the air changes, weāre reminded that weāre not really losing something. Weāre changing pace into a pretty wonderful season.
Fall in Westchester might be one of its very best. Long walks without everyone melting. Farms and pumpkins, blackberries and apple picking. The days may be getting shorter, but somehow we find ways to fill them with an extraordinary amount of color.
And this week, we were reminded of something bigger, too.
We had the privilege of joining Paulieās Push for part of his journey through Westchester as Paul āPaulieā Veneto pushed an airline beverage cart toward Ground Zero, honoring the flight crews lost on September 11. You can check out our Instagram for highlights from our time with him. Today, on September 11, he reaches his destination.
Itās hard to find the right words for a day that carries so much, particularly here in New York. We remember those we lost, the families who still carry that loss, and the countless acts of courage, kindness and humanity that emerged from an unimaginable day.
Perhaps there is something else worth carrying with us, tooā¦ We spend so much time thinking about what we didnāt get done, or whatās coming up next. The truth is that right now is the only time weāre guaranteed, and each other is what we have to fill it with.
Westchester is about to become ridiculously beautiful, and there are so many memories still to be made. Letās see how much beauty we can fill this weekend with.

āYou wonāt find Doritos on our shelves.ā
That was the promise of Linwood Shannon, store director of the recently opened Sprouts Farmers Market. The new Hartsdale location (formerly The Christmas Tree Shops on Central Ave.) is the first for Sprouts in Westchester and we stopped by to check it out this week.
For starters, the promise was fulfilled. Not a Dorito to be seen. But this is hardly the usual healthy shopping experience that has you hoping to snag the least-cardboard-tasting thing on the shelves. No, there were fully stocked seafood and butcher shelves right after you walk inā¦ not tucked away along the far perimeter like most marketsā¦ immediately followed by its sushi station before giving way to produce and packaged foods.
One of Sproutsā popular promotions is āSushi Wednesdayā, when fresh rolls start at $5. We opted for the 12-piece spicy tuna roll ($6), which was great. We also loved the hibachi grass fed beef bowl from the Grab & Go section ($9.99). Both were no-brainer lunch pickups.

Sprouts isnāt laid out like your typical grocery store, which is intentionally done. It does mean that if youāre like us, you might feel like youāre aimlessly wandering for the first ten minutes figuring it all out. To help you along the way are Sprouts employees that have been plucked from other locations around the country to assist in the first few months of the Hartsdale location.
Once you do figure out the layout, youāll find self-serve candy, nuts, snacks, and coffee stations with a nice selection of beer and ice cream alongside the healthier powders, supplements, and beauty products. It definitely has the feel of a market that can handle the needs of everyone in the houseā¦ unless they only eat Doritos.
