❤ Spring Break Special: A Beachfront Egg Hunt & Cinematic Strings

Plus, Mario returns in a Super sequel, we check out an Irvington BBQ joint, and look ahead to a Hudson brews cruise

Hello, Westchester!

If your house feels a little louder than usual… you’re not alone. Spring Break has kicked in, routines are loosening, and while some are heading away, others are leaning into a stay-at-home version of it wherever possible.

Easter holiday vibes filled our weekend, kicking off with a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt and crafts at Shake It Off on Friday night (a first for our smallest, who also met Bluey… a very big deal). Saturday started with an unexpected coffee find… a blueberry pancake latte at Momo’s Café that was genuinely next level. We also discovered Hannah’s Banana Pudding, which didn’t last long. Strong approval from our resident eight-year-old connoisseur.

From there, Connor McGinn’s studio sale… as good as ever. A space full of people, pieces, and soon-to-be well-loved additions to kitchens across the county. Followed, naturally, by a proper post-sale feast… more on that in Eats-chester below!

All of which is to say, if you’re around this week, you’re in a very good spot. We’ve made sure there’s a strong mix of family-friendly events to keep the little ones entertained, along with a few options to carve out something for yourself too.

Let’s get into it…

🥩 Eats-chester

We recently checked in with an Irvington ‘farm-to-smoker’ favorite

FarmEats BBQ | 48 Main St | Irvington

Brisket, short ribs & beans…

…mac, wings & cornbread.

We’re always looking for reasons to hit the Rivertowns, especially in the ‘offseason’ outside of the Halloween madness when the towns are a bit quieter and you can really dig into them. Well, we found ourselves a new reason and a new place to dig in…

A sunny, but chilly afternoon last weekend that started at Connor McGinn’s semi-annual ceramics sale in Tarrytown - hope you were able to score a few pieces like us! - had us on one of our favorite drives in the county up and down Route 9, ending in Irvington. With two little bellies needing to be filled, we dropped in to FarmEats BBQ, smack in the center of Main Street and the feast began.

Chef Drew served up an array of BBQ delicacies: brisket, short ribs, wings, sliced chicken, baked beans, mac & cheese and cornbread… all devoured by every single one of us. The sliced chicken, in particular, was a standout and extremely juicy - it was clear it was only just sliced before being brought out. Great food, a super friendly owner, and a view of the Hudson when you leave happy… can’t ask for more, really. And we recommend walking it off down to Matthiessen Park, just leave some energy for the walk back up the hill to the car!

You can catch FarmEats at their central Irvington location, as well as the Irvington Farmers Market and Bronxville Farmers Market. You can catch us there, too!
