💗 SNL Star Hits the Stage in Westchester

The Summer You Promised Yourself: Music, Dancing, Unwinding & Roadtripping

Hi there!

We’ve been making the most of our own event recommendations over the last week - experiencing all that our county, and those nearby, have to offer. We grabbed dinner alongside local police at the National Night Out in Rye, bet on ducks at Tibbetts Park, ate hot dogs with Westchester SC, and went straight into a weekend that was filled with farms, hikes, and vineyard fun thanks to Hooked Events’ wonderful Seafood & Wine Festival at the Robibero Winery in New Paltz. These were all activities and events you could find right here with us!

We ended the weekend with one of our highlights of the summer that we’re featuring for you below as a recommended mini escape, just in case you wanted to venture a little farther before the leaves change and your weekends become oriented around game times and drop offs.

We hope you enjoy it,

Wes+Bec

🌄 Sweet Escapes

After spending a sun-soaked Saturday in New Paltz (where we had one of our top pizzas — take a bow, Apizza), we headed back on Sunday to explore Kelder’s Farm in Kerhonkson. This is a FARM, ladies and gentlemen! They really have it all going on; playgrounds, obstacle courses, bounce pillows, excavation sand pits, giant beer pong (without the beer), duck racing, BBQ, wine slushies, and a candy cannon. Yes, a machine that rains treats down on glee-ridden children amidst epic farmyard views. After dragging the kiddos away, we went on to pick fruit, veggies and sunflowers. Dirty, covered in berry juice and sweat, we arose from the fields, happy and exhausted to cap things off with probably the best milkshake of our lives, the Gnomie Shake. Blue raspberry. Ordered “for my boy,” stolen by everyone. A must.

We were having so much fun, we didn’t want to leave. So, we didn’t.

We booked a beautiful, modern Zen chalet tucked just inside the forest at the foot of Minnewaska State Park Reserve. That’s when the trip really turned magic. We woke up to sun spilling through picture-frame windows, did yoga on the deck, and felt fully unplugged. The chalet has a sauna, a projector for movie nights, yoga mats, fire pit, books, candles, and stylish, thoughtful touches throughout.

Oh and the host, Serg, is a skydiving instructor at Skydive the Ranch. So if flying over the treetops is more your style, he can make that happen.

Here’s your trip blueprint: Start with Kelder’s (don’t miss the milkshake). Eat at Apizza. Grab a cold brew from Underground Coffee & Ales. Stay the night in this gem of a chalet. Wake up recharged. Then go hike to Awosting Falls and stop into some adorable, neighboring towns for a proper little wander. (Severance fans — Awosting may look familiar.)
