⚾ Meet Mariano Rivera at Sleepy Hollow's DeCicco & Sons

Tom Papa plays the Cap Friday, Dr. Katherine Ramsland examines the serial killer code & Art Garfunkel plays Ridgefield Thursday

Hello, Westchester!

After a surprise summer day last Friday, we’ve now returned to our usual fall weather programming and this week is looking perfect… a forecast ranging from the 60s to low 70s and sunny all week. We’re fall people - and not in the way that has us chasing down every pumpkin spice latte we can find - but in a way that sees the cooler weather recharge our batteries and hit the season with a bit more energy after a long, hot summer.

Every season in Westchester has its ups and downs but there’s beauty to be found in all of it if you look in the right place. And if you’re up for a little driving this holiday weekend (Columbus Day is on Monday), there’s definitely fall beauty to be found further north… we caught a glimpse of this shot from Instagram user @dannywild11 from Lake Placid…

Let us know if you’re getting out into nature and if you do, send us a pic! We’d love to feature some of the great outdoors through your eyes in an upcoming edition as we get more color on the local leaves.

If you’re sticking around close to home you’ve got some great local events through the week, including a peek inside the mind of serial killers at The Ark, comedian Tom Papa at The Cap, a screening of Hocus Pocus hosted by Larry Bagby who played Ernie / “Ice”, and a meeting with Mariano Rivera at DeCicco’s in Sleepy Hollow.

Enjoy the week. Enjoy the weather. See you out there!

📍 Know Your County… with The Cap!

Last week, we asked… The New York Knicks training camp recently opened at the MSG Training Center. Where in Westchester will the Knicks begin their title defense?

The answer is… Tarrytown!

The Knicks and the Rangers share the MSG Training Center, a 105,000 square foot facility that opened in 2002. Prior to the training center opening, the Knicks practiced at Purchase College with the Rangers getting work in at the Ice Casino at Rye Playland. Congrats to 45% of you who tipped that one in at the September buzzer.

That’s a wrap on the second Know Your County competition! Thank you to everyone who played in September. We’re tallying up the correct answers and will contact the winner over email.

We’ve got something really cool for you for October’s contest. We’ve partnered with The Capitol Theatre and this month’s winner will win two tickets to a select show at The Cap later this year. Let’s do it!

Here’s your first question…

On October 14, 1997, the Rolling Stones were billed to play The Capitol Theatre as part of MTV’s Live From the 10 Spot series but were forced to cancel when Mick Jagger developed laryngitis. But the show went on…

Which legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer filled in for the Stones that night?

Good luck!

✈️ Going Somewhere?

A few weeks ago we asked where you'd escape to this fall or winter. Warm weather won, and as the season changes, it's no surprise... 35% of you are ready to swap Westchester for the Caribbean, Florida or Mexico. Which means a lot of you have a trip sitting in the "we should really book that" pile. So here’s something cool that might help…

We recently met Laura Vollmer, a local travel advisor with Fora, and were surprised to learn that for most trips, working with her is free.

We've had our share of trips that we roughly planned out just to find there were no hotels available. That's a true story. It happened in Boston. We ended up staying an hour away near Plymouth Rock! That won't happen with Laura... you tell her what you're thinking, she does the research, builds the itinerary, finds the right hotels and recommends the experiences worth having. You hand her the Googling. She gives you a trip worth taking.

Laura doesn't even need to know all the details. "Somewhere warm in December, five days, two kids, here's my budget." That's more than enough to start.

And because she's part of Fora's network, Laura has access to over 5,000 hotels worldwide, plus potential perks at participating properties including complimentary breakfast, upgrades and resort credits.

You have enough to be thinking about. Let Laura handle the travel planning.

🏡 Where the Heart Is

Incredible homes are listed in Westchester every week. Here’s one that caught our eye

The Key Details: 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 4,952 square feet on 4.42 acres ($342 / square foot)

What We Love About It: A cedar contemporary on 4.42 private acres is a refreshing break from the usual Westchester colonial. Walls of glass wrap the kitchen and great room, and the primary suite adds vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, and two walk-in closets. The real bonus is the roughly 1,300 square foot guest quarters above the garage, with its own entrance, kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms. Think in-laws, a work-from-home setup, or potential rental income (buyer to verify permits and approvals). Outside, a rolling lawn, a charming barn, and room for a future pool round out the grounds.

We love to hear from you! Give us a shout at [email protected] or find us on Instagram @lovingwestchester. And don't forget to forward this to a friend who's always asking "what's going on this week?"

See you out there!
