⚾ Mariano Rivera Brings the Heat to Walter's & Melissa Etheridge Plays Tarrytown

Boston to NYC on foot... we joined a retired flight attendant honoring crews lost on 9/11

Hello, Westchester!
 

In 2021, retired United Airlines flight attendant Paulie Veneto set off on foot from Boston’s Logan Airport pushing an airline beverage cart over 200 miles to Ground Zero in Manhattan in honor of the flight crew lost in United Flight 175. He’d go on to memorialize the other three crews lost on 9/11 in the three years that followed, walking Washington-Dulles Airport to the Pentagon in 2022, Newark-Liberty to the National Flight 93 Memorial in 2023, and Boston Public Garden to Ground Zero in 2024. Paulie trekked more than 750 miles honoring those four flights.
 
This year, the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Paulie hit the pavement again for one final push from Boston to Ground Zero, asking those in the community to join him in pushing four carts commemorating each one of the flight crews.
 
We’d seen the community support Paulie was receiving as he approached Westchester and we were lucky enough to join him on Labor Day as he marched Boston Post Road in Rye, reaching 1,000 cumulative miles on the road in the process. Police sirens, fire horns, “Paulie” chants and supportive car horns escorted him toward Mamaroneck.

 
Paulie will step off again this morning from Mamaroneck, heading through Larchmont towards Pelham. If you’d like to join him, you can keep tabs on his path and progress on his site and his Instagram page.
 
For us, it was an emotional and powerful start to what turned into a gorgeous Labor Day to cap off summer. We hope you all enjoyed it, as well, and for those starting school today, best of luck with the drop-offs!

In 1971, Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead played six iconic shows in seven days at The Cap and in 2013, the theatre opened Garcia’s, a lobby bar / music venue in partnership with Jerry’s family.
