💗 Loving Westchester Thaws Out: Seeing Stars on the Ice & in the Sky
Local athletes shine on the Olympic stage & the local events calendar heats up in time for school break
Hello, Westchester!
Thank you to everyone who responded to our Valentine's call to share some love for the people who make life in Westchester better! We heard all about the employees, founders, and communities who help make this county what it is and shared those responses on our Instagram page, so if you haven't seen them yet, head over and feel the warmth!
Speaking of sharing the love, our local Westchester Olympians continue to make us proud over in Italy:
Danny Casper has captained the US Men’s Curling team to a 4-2 record in the round robin stage, including a statement win over 2022 gold medalists, Sweden. The team takes on China and host Italy today (Tuesday) as they push to qualify for the medal round.
Aerin Frankel continues to dominate in net for the US Women’s Ice Hockey Team, shutting out Sweden (5-0) in the semi-finals. The win was Aerin’s 3rd shutout of the games, becoming the first goalie to reach that mark in Olympic women’s ice hockey history. The US team have advanced to the gold medal game (this Thursday at 1:10p) and will play the winner of Canada / Switzerland.
Closer to home, it finally looks like we're getting a consistent break from Westchester’s deep freeze. The forecast shows temperatures climbing into the 40s a few times this week, which should help melt away the snow and ice we've been living with for nearly a month. And along with the thermometer, the events calendar across Westchester is certainly heating up…
President's Week is here, which means kids are off school and the county is ready with activities to keep them entertained. There are art workshops at Katonah Museum of Art, planetarium shows at Hudson River Museum, maple sugaring adventures in Cross River, and plenty more. For the adults, Colin Quinn brings his SNL Weekend Update wit to Tarrytown, there's chocolate tempering with wine pairing in White Plains, and classic rockers Kansas take The Cap stage in Port Chester.
Keep reading for all the details, and enjoy your week!
