💗 Loving Westchester's Weekend Warmup: Train Dreams, Matthew Morrison & Clever Critters
Plus, Stinky Cheese, Lunar New Year celebrations & a Westchester SC meet & greet
Happy Friday, Westchester!
Hopefully you’re all dug out from the recent snowstorm by now. We're no meteorologists, but 40° weather is way more effective at melting snow than the 15° we were getting after the January storm, so even a phoned-in shoveling effort should have done the trick. And with the kids finally back in school after the extended winter break, you might have both a clear house and clear driveway!
Before we get into the full event rundown for the weekend, we have to shout out one in particular. It’s rare we get the chance to actually sit down and watch a full movie with both kids in bed, uninterrupted. We finally did earlier this week and put on Train Dreams. It was incredible. So quietly powerful while reminding you of what’s truly important and what’s not once the movie ends. It was also beautifully written and beautifully shot... the Academy Award-nominated artists behind that (Clint Bentley & Adolpho Veloso) join attendees at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville this weekend for a screening and Q&A session. Details on the event below. If you can't make it up there this weekend, bump the movie to the top of your “need to watch” list and enjoy.
Elsewhere across the county, this weekend brings a nice variety… Matthew Morrison's one-man show hits the Paramount stage in Peekskill, The Stinky Cheese Man reimagines fairy tales at the Emelin Theatre, and Westchester’s-own professional soccer club hosts a meet & greet as they reveal their away kit ahead of the 2026 season. For families, there's a K-pop glam party, Clever Critters circus show with rescue dogs and performing chickens, and Lunar New Year celebrations at Hudson River Museum. For adults, comedy lovers have options including Kathy Griffin in Tarrytown and those soon-to-be-weds get a one-stop shop brunch experience as they plan their big day.
Thank you to all those who continue to join us over e-mail twice each week, we love putting this together to share what we’d be doing with unlimited babysitting! And thank you to this edition’s sponsor One Day Doors & Closets for helping us do it (more on them below)…
Enjoy the weekend and see you Tuesday!

🏡 Where the Heart Is
Incredible homes are listed in Westchester every week. Here’s one that caught our eye…
Listed by Compass Greater NY

12 Swarthmore Road is a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2,834 square foot colonial from 1916 on 0.41 acres in the Heath Ridge neighborhood. The home was recently expanded and updated but kept its great old-world character with details like beamed ceilings. A big front porch is perfect for relaxing or morning coffee. Inside, the first floor has a living room with fireplace, a private study with a front mudroom, a powder room, formal dining room, and a nice kitchen with breakfast area and walk-in pantry. There's also a back mudroom and a family room with lots of windows that opens to the backyard. Upstairs, the owner's suite has a sitting room, two walk-in closets, and a spa-like bathroom with double vanity and walk-in shower. Three more good-sized bedrooms and a hall bath complete the second floor. The basement has storage, a powder room, and laundry. The big backyard is great for entertaining or just enjoying your own space. Detached 2-car garage.
Walking distance to Scarsdale Metro-North (about 33 minutes to Grand Central). Close to Il Sorrento, Sapori, and Meritage. Quaker Ridge School (rated 10/10) nearby.
