💗 Loving Westchester's Weekend Highlights: Fests, Frights & Fireworks
Plus, Westchester SC says goodbye and a "friend & neighbor" says hello

Happy Friday, Westchester!
Is a nice, crisp October weekend too much to ask for? After last weekend’s decent impression of summer, it looks like we’re jumping straight to storm season this weekend with a nor’easter expected to hit the east coast, bringing with it heavy wind and rain. The forecast has already postponed one event we’ve really been looking forward to… the SUP Witches Festival (dozens of witches paddling out on the Hudson in Sleepy Hollow), which has been moved from this Sunday to its October 19 rain date. I guess no amount of potions or spells can keep this storm system away.
We have some great indoor event recommendations below that should keep you dry but if you are getting out this weekend and the weather’s getting rough, probably best to check it’s still going ahead, as planned. As always, if we hear that something we’ve recommended has been postponed or cancelled, we’ll do our best to share that info through our Instagram channel.
Wherever you find yourself this weekend, we hope it’s a good one. If you check out anything we’ve mentioned below, let us know! We’d love to hear from you!
Stay dry and see you Tuesday,
Wes+Bec

🍔 Eats-chester
For the longest time we’ve been collating our favorite burgers in Westchester. While I’m the one to try whatever wild topping is going, our little man, Kai is a plain cheese kid, and honestly, we often find the best versions through his puritanical approach. His only vegetable friend may be a fried potato, but that boy knows his burgers, pizza and ramen!
Yes, we’ve seen the lists and the Reddits, and yes, we’ve tried most of what those shouting at you on Instagram have dripping off their chins, or those that have endured the sweat and noise of Man Vs Food or the bleached tips of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. No, you won’t find many, if any, of them in what we’re about to share. And although most of this comes down to personal taste, what we can tell you is we’ll only share things with you that make us sit back, look at each other and nod. We also want to share a few on our radar with a request that if you have a solid go-to, please reply to this mail so we can make this list one that’s built on community voices.
Let’s get to it…
AJ’s, New Rochelle - We’ve actually only had AJ’s burgers at home, but they are pretty incredible. His Instagram is also legendary. This man knows how to cook a whopper burger.
Goosefeathers, Tarrytown - One of our son’s favorites. Only on their brunch menu. Beautiful.
Press, Scarsdale - New kid on the block with a solid burger game. Truly delicious.
Lulu’s Kitchenette, Pleasantville - We featured Lulu’s recently and have been thinking about going back and getting a burger of our own ever since we tried our son’s.
Village Social - Available in both Mount Kisco and Rye, their Vintage Burger is perfection.
Must Try:
Pizzeria La Rosa: We shared this gem with you recently, focused mostly on their pizzas, but we’re itching to try their Thursday burger specials. They look unreal.
Cafe Deux: We’ve heard great things but haven’t had the chance to try!
Just so you’re all aware, we’re always scouting places for you. If this little section doesn’t show up once a week it’s either because a) there was just TOO much on and we had to make the space or b) what we tried simply didn’t get the LW seal of approval. After all, for us when we recommend a place to you, it’s the same as telling a good friend.
Thanks for reading Loving Westchester!
We’re really enjoying putting this together twice a week and hope you enjoy reading it. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again… we love to hear from you! You can reach us at [email protected].
Check us out on Instagram for additional highlights outside of our normal Tuesday & Friday e-mails and, as always, please send this along to a friend who’s always asking, “What’s going on this weekend?”
Until next time,
