🔥 Loving Westchester Lights the Weekend Flame
Olympics kick off, Super Bowl Sunday, Wizard of Oz on ice, whisky tastings & more
Happy Friday, Westchester!
The Winter Olympics are upon us with the opening ceremony taking place at 2p ET today (replay at 8p) from Milan, Italy with performances by Mariah Carey and Andrea Bocelli. In our eyes, the Winter Olympics have always had the edge over Summer with the speed of the events (hockey, skating & skiing) helping to boost the excitement levels.
With an eye on our county, we’ve got a few US athletes with Westchester ties who’ve made the trip over to Italy this year:
Danny Casper, Curling (Briarcliff Manor)
Aerin Frankel, Women’s Ice Hockey (Briarcliff Manor)
Frankel started in goal on Thursday, stopping 13 of 14 shots in a 5-1 US win over Czechia
Olivia Giaccio, Freestyle Skiing - Moguls (Mount Kisco)
Best of luck to Danny, Aerin and Olivia during the games! We’ll keep you posted on how they’re all doing over the next few editions.

(Yes, we know this flame is from the Summer Games but it’s too iconic not to share… and we’ll probably do it again in 2028!)
Speaking of weekend sporting events, we’ve also got the Super Bowl for those trying to avoid the cold and stay warm indoors. Quick question for those of you planning to tune in…
What are you most looking forward to? |
For the brave souls venturing out this weekend, there are some great events going on around the county. The Wizard of Oz on Ice and Curious George are two top options for the kids while the grown ups can warm up with some raclette at Soul Brewing and whisky tasting in Chappaqua. Keep on reading below for tons more!
Whatever your plan… enjoy the weekend, make the most of it, and we’ll catch you on Tuesday.
