Hello, Westchester!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was one of the most bizarre weather weeks that we can remember with the Canadian wildfire smog that had us feeling like we were toasting sāmores for hours - but without the payoff - capped with tornado and flood warnings.
Fortunately, southern Westchester fared well, at least in our neck of the woods. How did you all do?
It looks like weāre getting some nasty weather later today, too, which could force a few more beach closures for later in the week depending on rainfall amounts. Make sure youāre on the lookout for any County closures from Wednesday morning onward.
Unfortunately, the weekend weather pushed a lot of events to their rain date of Sundayā¦ Sleepy Hollowās Mermaid Festival included, which we visited for as long as World Cup Final kickoff allowed. It was a great vibe down there on the Hudson with the local legend riding through to the amusement of guests (we think this unsuspecting family below made it out ok)ā¦
We made like Ichabod Crane and ran away from the Horseman in our blue and white garb, with Argentinian pastries from Bronxvilleās Chantilly Patisserie waiting for us at home, rooting for consecutive World Cup championships for the greatest to ever do it. Unfortunately, it wasnāt in the cards and it may have served as a passing of the torch as Messiās (likely) final World Cup and 19-year-old budding Spanish superstar Lamine Yamalās first. Whoever you were rooting for, it was an incredible and memorable World Cup and well hosted by all the North American cities involvedā¦ at least thatās how we were trying to console our devastated Messi super fan son.
Weāve got six weeks until September. Letās not waste āem. Here we goā¦
