🍜 Eats-chester
Good News! We were out East and given the chance to go have a date night, which we can tell you happens… never. Also, good news, we had a meal that will be replayed in our memories for a long time and want to share that with you. Bad news, it was in a pop up and that pop up is only in that location (East Hampton) for one more week. So, if you’re out that way… go! They’re also having a brunch on their last day! If you’re not anywhere near there anytime soon, there is good news, they have two restaurants in the city!

If you’re fans of Asian food or really just anything delicious, then you have to try Wayan x Ma•dé. Chef Cedric Vongerichten has two restaurants in the city; the Michelin-starred Wayan, and Ma•dé which is more family style. Both are an ode to French-Indonesian cooking, and this pop-up is a combination of them both. Set against a beautiful waterfront backdrop with the sun going down, we ate probably the best dumplings of our lives, filled solely with some beautiful sweet corn and an incredible spice-filled broth, preempting lobster noodles lick the bowl cacio e pepe style, miso-basted, melt-in-your-mouth butterfish, a delicately seasoned and totally more-ish crab fried rice, and a light tempura corn fritter with a sweet chili sauce, which we decided to keep for our final mouthfuls. It had us beaming at each other in silence and hurriedly handing each other spoonfuls of what we had tasted. Ok, it was probably heightened because with two little ones (one of which is new, enough) we don’t get out very often, but honestly… it’s the kind of food that makes you feel excited, nostalgic, and deeply content. We can’t wait to try more of Vongerichten’s dishes, and experience their impeccable and knowledgeable service, and hope that you get to at some point too. We expect to see more stars for this team in future.
