💗 Beach Balls, Fire Dancers + Gothic Drama Sweep Westchester

Magical gardens, falcons at dusk, and dance parties by the pool... no such thing as a boring week here.

Hello, Westchester!

We found it hard to squeeze in all the events in the last edition. Many of them sold out, and we know a ton of you got involved, so please do send us photos!

Ironically, we were out of the county, braving the Long Island Expressway to participate in a 5K fundraiser our extended family put together in honor of the Brotherhood For The Fallen, an organization that supports families of police officers lost in the line of duty. We carried our littlest (who we’re pretty sure placed 1st in the 1-year old female category), while our 8-year-old got his very own police escort so he could leave us in the dust. It was a great success and if you’re into running, or even walking, you’re more than welcome to join us next year when it returns!

Summer seems to be flying so we’re wringing every drop out of it where we can
Embracing each new harvest that the farm delivers to our markets, restaurants and ice cream stores (hi, peach sorbet), and remembering with each interrupted conversation that they, or indeed we, will never be this young again.

Have a lovely week, folks!

Wes+Bec

Today’s edition was brought to you by QueenBHive and Fallscapers.

☕ Eats-chester

Winfield Street Coffee has very recently found a home in Rye and so far, we’ve only great things to say about it! Their coffee is great (the iced flash brew really hits the spot), their menu is varied and thoughtful, it’s not all the same drink with different flavored sweeteners, but tastefully curated items like organic crimson iced tea, whipped coffee and peanut butter mochas.

But the real surprise? The food. Think beyond-the-usual breakfast and lunch: their Feel The Love bowl with rotisserie chicken, avo, garlic aioli and sriracha aioli was a total delight. And the burritos, BECs, sandwiches, wraps, and sides (that don’t feel like afterthoughts) made us mentally start building our “next time” order.

There’s something exciting about Rye’s newest caffeine haven - now living inside the beautifully revamped train station ticket booth - as it clearly doesn’t confine itself to the norms. It now has a bar and is releasing a cocktail menu, so you could potentially start and end your day there
or just skip the commute & work entirely. With lots of handy parking, fun pop-up events (they recently held a coffee ‘rave’), and excellent service, we have very high hopes for this one!

We always end up falling in love with one particular coffee place wherever we live, and it’s usually the moment when you’re given the feeling that a friend knows just what you need when you walk in, and you don’t even have to try and summon up a brain cell to think of it. The original Winfield Delicatessen opened in Norwalk, Connecticut in 1925, with its current owners taking it over in 2015 on a mission to serve excellent coffee, creative food, and a smile. They wanted Winfield to be somewhere to connect, belong and make people’s days brighter. Although Winfield has expanded greatly since its original mission, it appears that it still holds.

We think they’re well on their way to becoming a beloved Rye staple.
