šŸŽµ A Mumford & Sons Opener Plays Rye's Barley Beach House for Free

Pretty Lights at The Cap for three nights, Low Cut Connie plays ArtsWestchester & a Dobbs Ferry home with an assumable 3.25% mortgage

Hello, Westchester!

We start off with a fun piece of local news from earlier this month, in case you’d missed it…

On August 3rd, baseball player and Westchester native, Sammy Stafura, was halfway through a seven-hour bus trip to Georgia with his minor league teammates when he got a phone call from the Pittsburgh Pirates (the organization he played for) telling him he’d been traded to the New York Mets (the team he grew up a diehard fan of). A few more hours on the bus, an Uber, a flight, and a drive later, Stafura was with his new team, the Brooklyn Cyclones, and with them the start of his journey through the New York Mets system. The 21-year old from Cortlandt Manor (Panas HS) is now a top-10 prospect for his hometown team and you can catch him playing against the Yankees’ affiliate Hudson Valley Renegades in Dutchess County at the end of the month.

We’ve got some great summer events around the county this week with the Sleepy Hollow Carnival and the The Peak’s Beach Session catching our eye. Hope you get to take advantage of the sunny spells this week! See you out there!

šŸ“ Know Your County

We had two more questions last week including Photo Friday. Let’s see how we did!

Last Tuesday, we asked:

Of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, and White Plains, which Westchester city is the most densely populated?

The answer is… Mount Vernon!

According to World Population Review, Mount Vernon’s population density is 16,383 people per square mile and is the second most densely populated city in the entire state behind only New York City (28,441)! The second most densely populated city in Westchester is Yonkers at 11,815, which was selected by 54% of you; 21% correctly chose Mount Vernon.

We fared much better on the Photo Friday question, however, with 74% of you correctly identifying Valhalla as the final resting place of Yankee legend Lou Gehrig. There are a few other Yankee icons buried in Valhalla, including the great Babe Ruth. It’s worth a trip over there with a young athlete in the family of your own, just don’t be surprised if they refuse to leave their own hard-earned game ball behind!

Let’s go again…

Last week, Playland Park debuted a new ride called Scorpios to go along with its already famous Dragon Coaster…

In which Mariah Carey music video did the Dragon Coaster, and Playland Park, feature?

Good luck!

šŸ” Where the Heart Is

Incredible homes are listed in Westchester every week. Here’s one that caught our eye

The Key Details: 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2,304 square feet ($586 / square foot)

What We Love About It: Dobbs Ferry living with an Ardsley Schools address is a combination that's hard to beat, and this one comes with a flexible layout to match. A first-floor bedroom doubles as a home office, the primary suite has its own walk-in closets and private bath upstairs, and the finished walk-out lower level adds another 1,220 square feet, room enough for a family room, gym, or guest space. All told it's roughly 3,524 square feet of finished living. The real standout, though, is the assumable mortgage at a 3.25% interest rate, a rare find in this market. Add in the easy walk to Dobbs Ferry's shops and restaurants and a Metro-North commute into Manhattan, and it's Rivertowns living at its most convenient.
