šŸŽ¬ A Horror Movie Shot at Scarsdale High Returns to Westchester

Jim Jefferies and Trombone Shorty at The Cap, Westchester SC ends a home-winning season, and a classic center-hall Colonial in Rye Brook under $1.1m

Hello, Westchester!

The month-long streak of rainy Sundays has ended! The skies should stay clear for most of this coming week and you’ve got plenty of ways to enjoy the good weather waiting for you when you get to the events section below.

One streak we were happy to see continue was the home winning streak for Westchester SC. The team rallied to win 2-1 against 2nd place Union Omaha on Saturday night to win their 4th home game in a row, marking a successful end to this season’s Mount Vernon schedule. Of Westchester’s 11 wins on the season, 10 of them have come at home, giving you even more reason to come out and support the team in person in 2027!

Saturday saw another big local sporting event, the 99th installment of ā€œThe Gameā€ā€¦ the high school football showdown between local rivals Harrison Huskies and Rye Garnets. Harrison held off a final desperate drive from Rye to hang on for a 21-14 win at Rye’s Nugent Stadium, with the Huskies capping it off by jumping into Blind Brook, which runs alongside the field.

Looking ahead to this week’s excitement, you’ve got some great comedy options with Jim Jefferies at The Cap and Dave Attell in Peekskill. And of course the Halloween fun continues with Tarrytown’s parade / block party and Jacob Burns Film Center’s 10th Halloween Movie Marathon.

Thanks to everyone who has sent us pics of the events they’ve checked out over the last few weeks! Keep ā€˜em coming at [email protected]!

Enjoy the week and see you out there!

šŸ“ Know Your County… with The Capitol Theatre!

Last week we asked… which Gilded Age titan who gave away most of his fortune building public libraries is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery?

The answer is… Andrew Carnegie!

The industrialist and philanthropist immigrated to Pennsylvania from Scotland as a child and never lived in the Sleepy Hollow area. However, it was a popular burial place for wealthy families at the time Carnegie passed (1919). Carnegie is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery with his wife, Louise Whitfield, at the corner of Summit Avenue and Dingle Road. Well done to the 38% of you who got that one correct!

As a reminder, we’ve partnered with The Capitol Theatre and this month’s winner will win two tickets to a select show at The Cap later this year.

Here’s your next question…

With its proximity to Manhattan and varied townscapes, Westchester County is no stranger to television and film productions, but it’s also the birthplace of many well-known actors and actresses…

Which one of these actors was NOT born in Westchester County?

šŸ” Where the Heart Is

Incredible homes are listed in Westchester every week. Here’s one that caught our eye

The Key Details: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1,722 square feet on a 7,588 square foot lot ($638 / square foot)

What We Love About It: A classic center-hall Colonial in Rye Brook with resident access to Rye Beach. The living room is the star of the main floor, with a wood-burning fireplace and a wide bay window. The kitchen pairs granite counters and custom cabinets with a farmhouse sink, and it connects straight to the formal dining room. Upstairs are three roomy bedrooms, and the primary has both a cedar closet and a walk-in. The finished lower level adds a playroom, a workroom, and laundry. Out back, a level, fenced yard is framed by hydrangea and magnolia trees.
