☕ A Coffee Cup That Shakes Your Hand at Westchester’s Newest House of Horrors
Tips & tricks for navigating Sleepy Hollow this weekend, Tarrytown’s Halloween parade and block party returns, and an 1812 Yorktown Heights Colonial under $900k
Happy Friday, Westchester!
We’re finally getting that fall weather we deserve! We’re going to keep this intro relatively brief because there is so much to do and see around our county in these next few days and we want to let you get right into planning it all out.
What we will share, though, are some helpful tips and recommendations if you’re tackling the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow area this weekend. The crowds are going to be dense, but here are a few things that might help you along the way…
💀 We love Horsefeathers and Bridge View Tavern, but so does everyone else… skip those lines this weekend and eat at The Hollows at DeCicco’s overlooking the Hudson with plenty of parking & tables, very good food, and a great beer list.
💀 Park at Tarrytown’s MTA station… it’s a beautiful 30-minute walk to Kingsland Point Park and just 10 minutes to the top of Tarrytown’s Main Street. You’d spend that time looking for parking everywhere else. Keep it simple.
💀 Check out The Creepshow at Connor McGinn’s Tarrytown studio… free entry, oddities you’ve never seen and maybe you bring one home (much more on that below).
💀 TaSH Farmers Market, voted #1 in the state, has been moved from Saturday to Sunday this weekend because of the Tarrytown Halloween parade.
Looking further afield, if you haven’t taken that leaf peeping drive up north yet it’s a great weekend for that, too. The Fall Festival at Kelder’s Farm continues with attractions that include candy and apple cannons, a pumpkin launcher, and the cutest cow we’ve ever seen (plus so much more). We put together a video from our recent trip there on Instagram… check it out.
Oh, and if you visit, use code LOVINGWESTCHESTER for $3 off your Pick & Play ticket when ordering online.
Enjoy the weekend and see you out there!
📍 Around Our County
A House of (Handmade) Horrors…
There’s an undeniable magic to the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow area once October rolls around. The area transforms into the capital of Westchester’s Halloween country, but if you think the thrills, haunts, and oddities are only found in the cemeteries, pumpkin blazes, and twilight villages, you haven’t visited Connor McGinn’s studio at Makers Central recently.
Earlier this week, we detoured off Tarrytown’s busy Main Street to visit Connor and tour the studio, a space normally reserved for the creation of pristine, Michelin-quality ceramics. But for October at least, the space has turned into something entirely different...
The Creepshow is a collaborative pop-up exhibition where Connor and fellow artists Bat Flower Press, Pat Johnson, Diego Pimentel, and the New York Culinary Society have allowed their darker, “creepier” sides to let loose all over the studio floor. A couple of quick questions… have you ever shaken hands with your coffee cup? Ever dunked on Pennywise? How about opening a bottle with a three-foot-high Chucky cutout?
Those things all exist and all within feet of each other…

The wild visuals at The Creepshow are endless and have to be seen to be believed… our phone cameras are still getting over some of the pictures they had to take… and despite their spookiness, you can still see the same quality come through in the pieces. Except now, instead of a dish worthy of being served at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, you’re contemplating buying a cup with a baby doll head for a handle and wondering how it will stack with your other cups in the cabinet. That’s Halloween season in Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow.
The Creepshow is a short walk from both Tarrytown’s train station (our recommended place to park for ventures out in either town) and right around the corner from Main Street at 84 Central Avenue. Studio hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 5p-8p, and Saturdays and Sundays, 11a-7p, through November 1st. It’s free to visit and worth the few minutes in local traffic, trust us.
Happy haunting!
